As I was scrolling through Instagram reels featuring Singapore, I came across a post from this influencer enthusiastically sharing his experience with a complimentary tour at Tiger Brewery. I checked this page that he mentioned and found out that foreign travelers can get a free tour or experience in Singapore. You can check the eligibility list here and how to claim it. There are 37 experiences that you can choose from based on what you fancy or what you want to try. From cooking classes to yoga, bicycle tours to historical tours, jamming with cats, crafting bags, and creating your own perfume.

Mixing and creating my own perfume sounds exciting so I enrolled in the ‘Perfume Workshop – Fragrance Design and Mixology Session‘. I checked Klook and it costs around P3,699. From the SingapoRewards list, it’s one of the most expensive experiences available in Klook.

This fragrance lab, Oo La, is nestled in the heart of Singapore on Alexandra Road. They offer an enchanting and immersive perfume workshop experience that caters to both fragrance enthusiasts and curious novices. It’s a 60-minute workshop that allows you to customize your fragrance with a mixologist to come up with your ideal perfume – from picking all the notes to choosing a name.

During our workshop, the mixologist guided us through the intricate process of blending top, middle, and base notes, helping them discover the nuances of various essences and ingredients. The goal is to craft a fragrance that truly reflects our unique personality and style. I must say that it is not as easy as I thought it would be. I felt like a chemist struggling to create a floral but not too girly scent.

We were given coffee beans to reset our smelling senses. Sniffing coffee beans while mixing perfumes is a common practice among perfumers, and it serves a specific purpose in the fragrance blending process. It’s not about cleansing the nose but rather about “resetting” or “refreshing” the olfactory senses.

I particularly enjoy the scents of Tea (Te), Muguet (Mg), Fruity (Fr), Oriental (Or), and Gourmand (Go). Tea and Muguet (Lily of the Valley) are often middle notes. Fruity can be found in various notes, including top, middle, and base, depending on the specific fruit scents. Oriental is generally a base note and Gourmand is usually a base note due to their rich and long-lasting characteristics. After selecting and blending our top 5 fragrances, we proceeded to transfer them into an empty 20ml tube, culminating in creating the ultimate product.
