As I read on a famous blog, it is named after the owner’s son Mateo. Mati’s is the 2nd generation of Melo’s restaurant, another popular steakhouse chain in Manila. Their MCK branch opened last December, I’ve been eyeing this since then but didn’t have the courage to pay for the steak at that time (lol).

We tried the classic Ribeye steak and Mac & Cheese. We requested for a medium rare steak. They advised us that our food will be served in 20 minutes which is just fine.

While waiting for our food, I took the time to take some photos. This restaurant has a classic x rustic vibe, notice how the lights and hanging leaves compliments the brick walls. Basic colors, black silverware, wooden tables, laidback brown chairs and food served in sizzling plates.

The classic rib eye is served with mashed potato and mixed vegetables which is obviously a packed variety. I loved how the steak tastes and the mashed potato is very creamy. They serve Wagyu steaks too.

My mac & cheese is fine, yes it has cheese but I’m looking for a more tasty and cheesy macaroni. The classic steak costs P 470 and Mac & Cheese, P 320 (plus 10% SC for the total bill). I will definitely try other Mati’s Specials on my next visit.

Note: USDA means beef are produced by the US Department of Agriculture and had graded based on (1) tenderness (2) juiciness and (3) flavor. The USDA recommends steaks and roasts be cooked to 145°F (medium) and then rested for at least 3 minutes. To ensure food safety, ground beef should be cooked to a minimum 160°F (well done).
